Slavery Footprint is an interactive website that informs the viewer of how slaves can be involved in what they purchase and consume. Users can take an animated test to see wich specific products they use are involved with slavery. The animation ranges from plates filled with illustrated food (based on the user's appetite) to precious jewels piling onto a mannequin. A fun site with a serious message to deliver.
A playful site promoting a brand of childrens' snacks that isn't like your typical column layout. The pages are adorned with original illustrations and animated characters; even the text looks hand-drawn (though it isn't). The only downside is that the pages load a bit slow, due to the heavy decoration.
This beautiful, interactive game is only one of the games included in Mark MacKay's project: Method of Action. The Bezier Game tests players on how well they use bezier curves to form curves on certain letters. Not only is it fun or nice to look at, it's also helpful for both beginning and seasoned designers alike.
Another interactive experience that is a part of a larger project; 100,000 Stars awes and humbles (me, at least). The project was created by the Google Data Arts Team using THREE.js and CSS3D. 100,000 Stars lets users explore a virtual model of outer space, either by maneuvering around themselves or taking a tour. The tour will give interesting facts about various parts of the galaxy, as shown in the image above. Make sure to turn your sound on, the music is captivating.
WeaveSilk is a fairly simply site, letting users create mirrored designs simply with their cursor. There are 7 different colors to choose from and also different types of symmetry that can be experimented with. Designs can be saved to a computer or shared on social media. A relaxing choice to let creativity flow without much effort.
